EdgeCAM & DNC Bring Maximum Up-Time to Customer
Strongly connected with the Aerospace and Oil Industry, ATI Allvac supplies metal components that must perform under critical and demanding conditions, and are considered leaders in the production of titanium alloys.

Due to changes in territory boundaries, the company had been working with both Jim Swales and Paul Arrandale over the last couple of years, along with the expertise of Phillip Gill regarding DNC.

ATI Allvac embarked on a £ multi million investment updating their foundry, forging and manufacturing facilities in Sheffield. These plans have involved completely refurbishing one of their large bays, removing and replacing the roof - and diverting a small river!

The manufacturing plans involve purchasing 2 horizontal borers and 3 twin turret lathes for machining oil shafts and deep hole boring up to 30 metres long.

They realised that a CAM system was required and wanted to design models created in their Solidworks CAD system. They looked at SolidCAM, FeatureCAM and Edgecam.

After excellent demonstrations, the final decision was Edgecam with our associative links to the Solidworks file and the potential to automate in future with the use of Strategy Manager. What helped the decision to work with Planit was the ability to supply DNC and Machine tool monitoring to their new machines to ensure maximum up-time and efficiencies for the new plant.

The conclusion that they would be able to prove which component was machined when and using which program for their Proof of Quality standards ensured that ATI Allvac placed an order for £26K.
